First VMworld Post

Well I have arrived. Checkin at registration was very nice at 0700 this morning. There was no wait and was able to walk right into the breakfast area. After breakfast I went to our booth (booth #101) to finish the setup and run through our demo to make sure no one broke anything while testing over the weekend. Quick tip on getting VMware Docs on a Mac

If you're like me you can never have too much documentation on hand when troubleshooting a problem. When I was a Windows guy I used a handy little script written by the guys/gals over at xtravirt.com that would automatically go out to vmware.com and download all of the latest documentation for me. #HPTechDay: HP really 'gets' storage!

The early part of this week saw me attend a specialised Tech Day at HP Colorado Springs that revolved around Data Centre Convergence with an emphasis on HP Storage.I have to say that the event was a rip roaring success and I would highly recommend other vendors do the likewise.  Aside from the excellent people pulling it all together in the background, the event comprised several very influential bloggers, absolutely top notch HP technical and product management staff....... oh and me there to make up the numbers ;-) The workshops and discussions will no doubt spawn several blog posts…

Georgia On My Mind

Headed to Atlanta today to attend some training on the Riverbed Steelhead WDS boxes.  I've implemented them at a few places now and I am very impressed so far.  I've seen SRDF traffic at one customer go from an average of 20 - 30 MB/s up to 150 - 180 MB/s immediately after putting in a Steelhead.  The network guys love this stuff!…
